There are approximately 140 low- and moderate- income rental apartments located throughout the Mammoth Lakes community.
In order to qualify, you must have lived in Mammoth Lakes for at least the last 6 months and earn less than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
In Mono County, an individual must make $23.13/hour in order to afford a market-rate two-bedroom apartment. Or, it would take three full-time minimum wage earners working 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year, in order to afford the same unit. This can lead to over-spending on housing costs and result in a lack of expendable income for other necessities such as food, clothing, or medical expenses. On the other hand, it can also lead to overcrowding where multiple families rent an apartment together in an effort to make the housing expenses more affordable.
The goal of providing affordable rentals to the local workforce is to promote local economic sustainability, a stable community, and healthy, reliable employees.
Currently, Eastern Sierra Community Housing manages a wait list for 85 of these units. If you would like to be added to the wait list, you must submit an application with all of the required income information to our office located at 587 Old Mammoth Road. All of your information is confidential.
If you have questions about the wait list process, please call us at (760) 934-4740.

What our clients are saying
Thanks for the donations
I wanted to say Thank You for the donation(s) that helped me pay my rent when I was out of work do to surgery and Covid. It was hard to pay all the bills plus the payment for rent. I was afraid that I was unable to pay everything that needed to be paid when all this stuff happened.
Thanks for the assistance
Thank you for the assistance from the bottom of our hearts. We were very uncertain on when we would have our normal income flow. Though it has not recovered fully and we only needed 2 months of assistance we couldn’t be more appreciative of the help when we needed it.
Pay It Forward
I wish I had appropriate words to express my gratitude to all the people in your organization that came together to help me during this crisis. I hope I can pass it on, pay it forward, and return the outreach and love to others one day.
Thank you and warmest regards.
