MLH Needs You! Applications for New Board Members Wanted

We envision an Eastern Sierra where communities thrive
because everyone has access to safe, affordable, quality housing.

March 4, 2020

Dear Community Member,

The Mammoth Lakes Housing, Inc. (MLH) Board of Directors seeks two new members.  This is an opportunity to contribute to the future shape of affordable housing in our majestic region.

Minimally, one of the new directors must meet the following Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) requirements: be a low-income resident; live in a low-income neighborhood; OR be elected by a local organization that serves low-income community members. The second director position may be an “At-large” member of the Community. However, the Board is unable to accept applications from those individuals who are public officials, employees or members of a public entity, board or agency, or appointed by a public entity, board or agency at this time. All else are encouraged to apply.

All those interested in volunteering on the MLH Board should work well in a team setting, be willing to put in time and effort, share in the mission and values of MLH, and enable the Board to address the corporation’s program areas. Some of the exciting programs include homebuyer assistance, below-market-rate rentals, assisting the Town to implement the Community Housing Action Plan, and the adaptive reuse of existing properties for conversion to rentals for locals such as MLH’s recently acquired 238 Sierra Manor Road, which we anticipate breaking ground on in the Spring/Summer of 2021.

There are many personal and professional benefits that come from serving on a non-profit Board of Directors such as: the development of leadership skills, a chance to affect change, networking opportunities, the chance to give back, an understanding of non-profit governance, and experience with big picture thinking.

The MLH Board typically meets the first Monday of every month at 6 PM in Suite Z, located at 437 Old Mammoth Road, Minaret Village Shopping Center. Free dinner is provided to all board members at the meetings.

In closing, we hope you will consider this unique volunteer opportunity. Or, if you know someone you believe would be a great fit, please feel free to pass this along. Please contact us for an application, or submit your resume/CV, or letter of interest to Patricia Robertson at, or 587 Old Mammoth Road, Suite #4/PO Box 260, Mammoth Lakes. If you have questions, please contact any of us.
