Mammoth Lakes Housing Compiling a List of Qualified Contractors for Housing Rehabilitation Projects

As the Town of Mammoth Lakes’ Housing Rehabilitation Program gets into full swing, interested contractors are asked to submit their names, trade or specialization, and contact information to Mammoth Lakes Housing in order to build a contact list for homeowners doing renovations.

“With this program, MLH works with homeowners to get quotes from licensed and insured contractors to complete essential home repairs on their homes. The homeowner selects the appropriate quote, and MLH makes sure the contractor meets the licensing requirements,” says Executive Director, Patricia Robertson. “Having a list of interested contractors will speed up the process to improve our housing stock with eligible repairs.”

MLH also works with the homeowner to determine what work is an eligible repair. “The priority is health and safety repairs,” states Robertson. The program can also replace non-EPA compliant woodstoves, single pane windows, inefficient hot water heaters, , bring a home into compliance with current Uniform Building codes, or improve accessibility for disabled family members. Funding for the repairs comes to the income-eligible homeowner in the form of a deferred payment loan or a grant. Landlords renting to income-eligible households may also qualify for loans to rehabilitate one to four units.

Contractors, or interested homeowners and landlords, may contact Mammoth Lakes Housing at (760) 934-4740, or 587 Old Mammoth Road, Suite 4. Email questions or contact information to diane@mammothlakeshousing.org.
