MLH held a very successful Housing Legal Learning Day on October 1, 2019.
20+ participants including landlords, tenants, Town employees, service providers, real estate agents, and property managers attended over the course of the day and learned valuable insight into landlord-tenant rights as well as fair housing topics from experienced attorneys at CA Rural Legal Assistance and the Housing Rights Center.
Mono County has traditionally been under-served in the area of legal aid, especially regarding landlord-tenant rights and fair housing issues. Community members regularly bring questions and concerns to MLH staff, so the need for affordable legal expertise in these topics is well recognized.
As a local non-profit organization, MLH seeks to expand the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing in the community. Their stated vision for the Eastern Sierra is that communities thrive because everyone has access to safe, affordable, quality housing.
Thank you to our hosts, the Mammoth Lakes Library and the Starbucks on Main Street for hosting these free community education events.
